I have had the Acer laptop , Aspire 3000 for about 4 years now. For the most part, it works very good. I was able to do everything that I wanted. I didn’t have much problem but there is one thing and that is the battery of the computer is never good. The acer aspire 3000 battery doesn’t work by itself for anymore than a couple of minutes.
If I use the laptop with the battery only and don’t plug it in, the battery would die off and the computer wouldn’t work anymore. It won’t last for more than a minute and this the thing that really frusrated me. I couldn’t do anything with the battery alone.
I did try to recharge the computer but it doesn’t fully load like most people would say. I saw that other computer battery last for hours. I think that Acer need to work on this aspire 3000 baterry problem with their laptop. I don’t know if any body else is having the issue like me or it’s just that I bought a really bad one. I bought it at the store and it’s brand new in condition.
All though I love Acer as they are one of the few companies that offer AMD and Intel, I have moved to Acer now the Compaq has merged with HP and I am very happy with Acer. But there are a few things that Acer should do on Learn from Campaq and put a on off switch for the touch pad, out Do even Compaq and Give us a on/off for the built in mics. A standard SD slot would be good as only their better systems have SD readers; and the systems realy ned far better batteries I don’t use alot of battery power but some people I know are not happy with acer aspire 3000 batteries. but the system for what it dose is very very good I yet to have a problem other then they touch pad has no on off switch but I realy can’t say anything real bad i can boot from exteral devices, run Linux on the system, no cheep bios lock-outs like alot of Dells and runs alot cooler then my Intel laptop… I like my system and have told a few of my buds to get this model.

One other thing that I have is that the computer tend to freeze on me often. I hate it when it happens. I can’t turn it off or get out of the screen. It would sit there for hours and the only thing I can do is pull the plug on it which is a very bad thing because it can ruin your computer.

This laptop is great. That’s all I have to say. This PC is works flawlessly doing basic to moderate computer fuctions. I wouldn’t recommend it for any intense gaming, but if you’re planning to use this as an entertainment pc as in videos, movies and music, it works great and it’s inexpensive. After having it for a couple of years, it could use a RAM and even a processor upgrade. In all I recommend it to anyone looking for a bang for your buck PC. Just one last thing about this computer, if you ever need to get a new power adapter make sure to get exactically the right voltage. I got a universal adapter and the voltage was slightly higher than the battery and the aspire 3000 battery died after 8 months. Stupid move on my part, but just be careful.

How do i install 1 gig of memory into my Acer Aspire 3690 laptop?
Im trying to increase the memory so it runs faster and can handle vista, do i need tools to install memory or is there another option?
Better take the laptop to support center of your laptop vendor and install the memory.
Else, if the laptop is on warranty and if you open the laptop to install memory, it may void the warranty…….

If both teams are in the home network, or connect them with an Ethernet "crossover" cable, you can share the DVD drive from HP over the network and access it from the Acer. Depending on what you want to do this can be annoying. It would probably be better off buying a portable DVD player for your laptop.
